In Reversal, CDC to Recommend Americans Wear Face Masks

According to the Washington Post, the White House is preparing a recommendation that the public wear cloth face masks or coverings at all times while in public.

This is a swift reversal of course from the federal government, who until now has explicitly dissuaded citizens from wearing face protection — even going as far as to say that wearing such masks could result in adverse health effects.

This recommendation does not extend to the use of N-95 masks, which remain in short supply in hospitals across the country.

The change in policy comes as the White House presents grim models predicting the potential toll of the pandemic, which shows the increased likelihood of the virus killing over 100,000 Americans.
