Supermarket Forced to Throw Away $35,000 Worth of Food After Woman’s Coughing ‘Prank’

“It was just a prank, bro!”

In this time of crisis, as cases of coronavirus reach almost 70,000 in the U.S., there are plenty of stories of people coming together for the greater good.

This is not one of them.

Gerrity’s Supermarket, a small family-owned chain in northeastern Pennsylvania, has been struggling to keep up with demand. Then, on Wednesday, a woman entered the store and in a twisted prank, proceeded to cough all over store’s fresh produce. The result? Gerrity’s had to throw away all the affected food – over $35,000 worth of produce. Gerrity’s co-owner Joe Fasula posted this on the business’ Facebook page:
