The president says he will defund the organization amid the pandemic.
President The-Buck-Stops-With-Everyone-Else blamed the World Health Organization (WHO) Tuesday for the spread of the novel coronavirus into the United States.
The president, who notoriously called the coronavirus “the Democrat’s new hoax” and insisted the virus would go away “like a miracle” in April “with the heat,” has now completely abdicated his responsibility to deal with the outbreak.
So much for the “Party of Personal Responsibility™.”
Trump’s inaction to deal with COVID-19 has caused America to surpass every other nation in the number of deaths from the deadly virus.
As a result of nationwide shutdowns, the economy is now in the worst shape since the Great Depression.
Trump’s embarrassing scapegoating of the WHO comes after a long line of failed attempts to shift the blame away from his own ineptitude. Other targets have included the Democrats, Impeachment, China, public health experts, the media and more.
Putting action to his words, the President announced he will defund the WHO – an unprecedented and ghoulish move in the middle of one of the worst pandemics in modern history.
Trump additionally spent Tuesday’s briefing moving the goalposts. He stated, “The minimum was 100,000 deaths and I hope to be substantially under the minimum.”
As a reminder, Trump infamously said there were 15 cases in the U.S. that would go down to zero on their own as early as late February. There are now 25,924 deaths in the U.S. as of the writing of the post.
