During Friday’s press briefing, the living, breathing personification of the Dunning–Krueger effect went one step further.
President Trump went on a stunningly misinformed rant, confidently stating, “The germ has gotten so brilliant that the antibiotic can’t keep up with it … there’s a whole genius to it … not only is it hidden, but it’s very smart.”
Yes, that’s actually what he said.
For the record, antibiotics don’t, and never have helped cure viruses. Rather, antibiotics target bacteria. So no, it’s not because this particular coronavirus “germ” has “whole genius to it.”
