Over the weekend twitter user @RzstProgramming unearthed a February 2013 tweet from Donald Trump’s new press secretary Kayleigh McEnany promoting an article titled “The Case Against Black History Month” that was posted on her personal blog http://kayleighmcenany.com. The website has since been taken down and purports to be under “maintenance.” The article can still be viewed through archives.
McEnany’s 2013 article asks “how come so many refuse to get rid of Black History Month” when “we keep hearing how black people should be treated like everyone else?” The article concludes that Black History Month is part of a “leftist racial separatism agenda” to convince African Americans they are “victims of America again,” and that “too many black people…push for special protection under the law, usually at the expense of whites.”
Prior to becoming Press Secretary, McEnany was a spokeswoman for President Donald Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign. Trump’s previous Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham was ousted as part of a West Wing reorganization by Trump’s new chief of staff, Mark Meadows. Grisham did not hold a single press briefing.
McEnany will be Trump’s fourth press secretary in less than four years, succeeding Grisham, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Sean Spicer.
